Window Systems Environmental Actions
The Extruded Window Systems extrusion facility achieved ISO14001 Environmental Management
System Certification in 2004, and since then the Company has continually improved
the environmental performance of its manufacturing and distribution operations.
The extrusion site also operates under the terms of a Climate Change Agreement,
and is actively driving improvement in energy usage efficiency.
Ambitious targets were set in 2007 for reduction in consumption of electricity,
gas and water, and to cut waste sent to landfill and CO2 emissions.
Environmental Progress in 2011
The Company's environmental achievements at the end of 2011 look like this based
on the five year target set in 2007:
There was an increase of 11% in the Litres of Diesel used for 2011. This was
due to an increase in mileage compared to 2010’s figures. In 2012 the focus will
be on reducing litres used by monitoring the utilisation of the fleet.
The company has not received any complaints from the local community for 2011.
Forecast for 2012
A continuation of this performance is expected during 2012.
